Sunderland Women’s Football Club have won the League Cup Final with a hard fought win over Leeds United Ladies at Sixfield Stadium this afternoon.
Two goals from Natalie Gutteridge, both headers, in the 9th and 66th minute put Sunderland in a comfortable position.
Kelly McDougall had missed a first half penalty in the 30th minute for the Lady Black Cats and they had to endure a nervy last few minutes after Carey Huegett scored a penalty after Rachel Furness handled in the box.
But the League Champions held on to win their first League Cup and secure the double.
