Sunderland Ladies striker Beth Mead has been awarded the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year award at the annual ceremony in London.

The 20-year-old has been in fine form over the past twelve months and netted 12 goals in 14 games for Sunderland last season, making her the top scorer in the FA Women’s Super League 1.

Mead has received her first England national team call up recently and was last night also voted into the PFA Women’s Team of the Year, rounding off a fantastic season for the youngster.

Mead’s fellow England teammate Izzy Christiansen picked up the PFA Women’s Player of the Year award after a solid season with Manchester City Ladies.

England boss Mark Sampson was quick to take the Twitter to congratulate both players.
