Boldon will be looking to end 2016 on a high as they head into their final game of the calendar year on Saturday.
The Villa will take on their Wearside League rivals Sunderland West End FC at Boldon Colliery Welfare at 1:30pm tomorrow and will be looking to replicate their 2-1 win over West End earlier in the season.
Being four league places ahead of West End and having already beaten them this season, Paul Mossa’s team will be expected to get past their opponents tomorrow and advance into the 3rd round of the cup.
The Villa made hard work of their last game in this competition as they scraped past Stokesley SC 2-1 and they will be hoping for a slightly easier game tomorrow.
Boldon have produced some mixed performances across cup competitions this season. They have a semi-final to look forward to in the new year in the Total Sport Alan Hood Charity Cup as well as still being in the Shipowner’s Charity Cup and the Durham Trophy.
Despite their successes in those competitions, they were knocked out of the Durham Challenge Cup and the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup in the first round of each tournament.
Boldon will be looking to forward Adam Bell to make the difference tomorrow as the 23-year-old has already notched nine goals in just 19 appearances.
The Villa will need to keep tabs on West End’s top scorer Mark Catcherside though, as he has already bagged eight from midfield this season.
