Chris Dobey bowed out of the German Darts Championship at the first round stage, losing 6-5 to Jamie Bain.

The Bedlington thrower led twice during the match and broke Bain’s throw for a 5-4 lead with a wonderful 108 checkout.

However, “Hollywood” was unable to grind out the victory, with Bain levelling the score with a stunning 129 checkout on the bullseye before winning the deciding leg.

Dobey said: “To be honest, I thought I played quite well and I thought I was in control for most of the game.

“I then missed one dart at double 11 for a 12-dart finish to win the game and got punished for it.

“Jamie played fantastic throughout the game. I knew how good he was beforehand, so I knew what I had to do but his finishing was superb so fair play to him.”

After the narrow defeat, Dobey will now focus his attention ON THE next PDPA Players Championships in Milton Keynes on the weekend of April 1-2.

He added: “I am really enjoying myself this season. I think the more I play the better I am going to get.

“It is just a matter of time before I get another good run as I am playing well.”
