Sunderland West End progressed to the second round of Durham Trophy Cup after a 4-0 victory away at Harton & Westoe.

The visitors didn’t take long to score, going a goal up in the 6th minute after Anthony Ross put the ball in the back of the net with a great strike from outside the box.

Mark Robinson and Bryan Norton almost doubled West End’s lead on two occasions, but it was Lee Smith in the 26th minute, from inside the box, who managed to score the second goal.

Six minutes later it was 3-0 thanks to Adam Dryza who reacted great with a firm header after a decent delivery from Reece Thompson.

In the 50th minute, Mark Catheside replaced Norton and was quick to get himself on the score sheet 15 minutes later when he scored beautifully from a free kick.

West End are at home to Cleator Moor Celtic next on Saturday at 2pm in Monkwearmouth Charity Cup First Round.
