University of Sunderland athlete Amy Etherington is taking the positives from her performance at the BUCS Nationals.
Etherington finished third in her 400m heat and was unable to progress through to today’s semi-finals.
Commenting on her performance, Etherington said: “I wasn’t last, so it wasn’t that bad.
“I thought my time might have been a bit better than it was. It was only a couple of seconds that kept me out of the final though.”
She also appreciated that she was up against some tough competition in her heat, while admitting the experience was somewhat new to her.
“Some of them have competed in European Championships,” she added.
“It’s only the second time I’ve ever run in indoors and I had to use the blocks which I’ve never done before.”
And while she was perhaps disappointed with her own performance, Etherington seemed to appreciate the event itself and would consider coming back.
“It was overwhelming, if anything,” she added.
“I might come back next year.”
