Nicholas Kane, Lee Hetherington, Tommy Scott and top-scorer Liam McBryde are all set to return from injury for Seaham Red Star in their clash away at Newton Aycliffe tomorrow.

The game will be Seaham’s first in three weeks as matches against Shildon and Newcastle Benfield were called off due to snow and frozen pitches respectively.

Last week’s game against Newcastle Benfield was postponed just 15 minutes before kick off, as the condition of the pitch was said to have deteriorated during the warm up.

Opponents Newton Aycliffe have also been out of action for the last three weeks with games against Jarrow Roofing, Ashington and North Shields called off asa result of the cold conditions.

They currently sit 18th in the Northern League Division 1 table, and held Sunderland RCA to a 0-0 draw last time out.

Joint-manager Chris McCabe said: “The lads are really looking forward to getting back out on the pitch and get going again.

“They’ve been working really hard in training so I think they are ready for a game now. Hopefully the weather is good to us and we see some football this weekend.”

Long-term absentee Craig Lynch is still out injured for the Star, but it is hoped he will be back in the squad after Christmas.

The only fresh injury concern for McCabe is that of defender Kieran Galbraith, who has fractured and dislocated his wrist after landing awkwardly in training.

McCabe said: “It’s been a frustrating time for Kieran with injuries this season. He has been working really hard to get himself back to fitness, his attitude has been brilliant and he is looking really sharp in training.

“It’s devastating news for him and the club, but I’m sure he’ll be back in no time. He’s a strong character for a young lad.”

The game kicks off at 3pm at Newton Aycliffe Sports Club.
