University of Sunderland men’s football 3rd team coach Daniel Kendal insisted the performances have been “getting better and better every week” despite the team currently sitting bottom of the Northern 6B league table, still without a point.

“We played really well in the second half” said Kendal. “We should have scored five or six goals, but we come away with two and we’ll just have to take it for now. We move onto next week and hopefully try to keep improving. It’s a much improved second half performance again, so the basis of it is there and we just need to work on improving it.”

He continued: “We’ve been getting better and better every week, going from the first game back at Sheffield when we really struggled after 20 minutes to now where we can really give teams games in the second half and really push forward and work hard.”

On man of the match Jack Mensforth, Kendal said: “He got himself a goal, a good free-kick aswell and played in a couple of different positions today grafting really well. It was thoroughly deserved.”

Next up for Kendal and Sunderland 3rds is a home tie against Sheffield Hallam in their final match before the Christmas break, which takes place on Wednesday 6th December at the Silksworth Sports Complex (Kick off 13:00).
