Washington head into the weekend’s game with South Shields after hitting something of a purple patch. Two wins on the bounce has restored hope in the mechanics dressing room and manager Ritchie Latimer is hoping they can continue their run against a “strong Shields side.”
“It’s important we don’t just focus on Julio Arca, they’re where they are cause they’ve got some very good players, Jon Shaw for example,” said Latimer.
“We all know what South Shields are about they’re a good team who like to get the ball down, I know Lee Picton and Graham Fenton very well and the style they play.”
Washington can continue their ascent up the table with a win at the weekend but it’ll be a tough task against the league’s top goal scorers.
“We’ve been working on a few things in training and we’ve spoken a lot about our shape and what we would like to do,” said Latimer. “Obviously it’ll be a change from our previous two games where we were able to get at Chester-le-Street and West Allotment, this game will be a totally different game as they’ve got some very good players.
“They’ve got some good players in their arsenal so we’ve got to box clever and we’ve been working on certain things to ensure we put in a solid performance.”
