Mens futsalYork St. John’s ran out comprehensive winners as they smashed 20 goals past Sunderland Men’s 1sts in the Futsal.

It was an early start for everybody involved and Sunderland were dealt a swift wake-up call as York grabbed two quick goals from close range.

Sunderland’s ‘keeper made a rare mistake as he let a tame effort squirm underneath him, but he was left with no chance as York’s number nine started his goalscoring spree with a powerful effort.

Just after York bagged a quick fifth, intercepting a square pass, Sunderland’s number 7 poked in from the edge of the area for a rare glimmer of hope.

It was short-lived however, as York’s left sided player cut in and curled home for six.

York added two quick goals from close range as Sunderland’s defence fell asleep twice in quick succession, before York squeezed home a ninth before half-time.

Sunderland added the first goal of the second half, a nice move culminating in a sweet finish, but shortly after York’s #10 collected a high pass and drilled home a lovely half-volley.

York then added a flurry of goals in about five minutes, with York’s impressive #4 poking home the first, before #9 and #10 combined to smash five goals, the first including a great piece of skill from the #10.

A dinked finish made it 17-2 before #9 once again turned his man and slid home. He also grabbed the twentieth goal after #64 slotted past the onrushing ‘keeper.

The game finished 20-2 to York, as Clash of the Minsters 2016 started badly for Sunderland.
