Sunderland City Predators Netball captain Kelsy Mavin has asked her side to be more dominant in the first quarter of their games despite a healthy victory over Burnside C last week.
This week the Predators, who currently sit second in the league but only by goal difference, take on third off bottom side Bond Dickinson on Thursday night. Even though it seems to be a game the Predators should win easily, Mavin is taking no chances.
“I feel as a squad we should have played a lot better. In the first seven minutes of the game we made too many mistakes and we didn’t play our game. Luckily we realised and as a team and slowed the game down and sorted out our errors,” said Mavin speaking about the victory over Burnside.
The Predators still impressed during that game though, winning by 20 goals and looking relatively untroubled apart from the start of the first quarter.
But a less stuttering start and a more tactical approach is in demand from the captain this week in order to keep up the pressure on the top teams in the league.
“The squad that gets picked need to remember to be fully warmed up for the first quarter to reduce errors. They also need to remember to play our game” she said.
A win would take the Predators to the top of the league providing other results go their way, or if they were to score enough goals to go ahead on goal difference.
