Sunderland Men’s Futsal 1st’s grabbed impressive victories over the weekend after beating York seconds and York St John seconds.

Victory over rivals pushed Sunderland Men’s Futsal 1st’s right up the table after beating York 10-1 and York St John 7-6 in the second round-robin tournament of the season.

Sunderland had never beaten York St John Men’s Futsal before and having held on to their lead after a very tough and tight game you could sense the relief that they managed to nick the deserved victory after a late onslaught from the home side.

However, it was not all celebrations as the Men’s 2nd’s were defeated 18-1 against a very impressive Teesside team who are currently leading the table.

Both teams will be hoping to improve on previous results against Teesside as they will be playing against each other in a couple of weeks in a friendly.

Jack Mccaig, Captain of the 2nd’s, commented “I don’t think the score reflected on how we played as we competed against them for long periods in the game. We are quite a new team and still gelling together and hopefully we will see some more improvement when we play them again soon”.

Before then both teams have cup games coming up after successively progressing to the next round a couple of weeks ago.
