Middlesbrough have agreed a fee for Sunderland target Danny Graham, according to reports.
The 27-year-old is thought to be desperate for a move back to his native North-East, and came up through the ranks at Middlesbrough.
Graham had also been attracting interest from Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers, but this morning’s surprise development may see him drop to the Championship.
Should the forward move to Teesside, it would be a major blow to Black Cats manager Martin O’Neill, who had hoped to land a striker ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.
Whether Graham will be willing to drop down a division remains to be seen, but the lure of helping the club he came up through the ranks with back to the Premier League may prove too much of a lure.
Were he to leave the Swans, though, it would mean he would miss out on a trip to Wembley and a chance of winning the Capital One Cup with the South Wales side.
