Sunderland City Predators Netball Goal Defence Abbie Taylor chats to SportsByte about the Tyne & Wear Summer League.
Speaking before the first game of the Summer League, Taylor reflects on the Predators ‘progression’ from last season and cites consistency as one of the main positives, saying that the Predators now have a ‘core group’ of players who can help the club achieve their ambitions.
Taylor addressed the gulf in competition between the Summer and Winter Leagues, stating that: “In the Summer League the teams are of a more level standard.
“Last year our Summer League results were a hundred times better than our Winter League results.”
Taylor also praised Predators Netball Coach Natalie Connor, adding: “We have a great coach in Nat. She is always there to give us pointers and tell us where we can improve.”
The Predators lost their first game 29 – 19 against Durham Palatinates, but play Vixons II next on Tuesday June 10. The Vixons also lost their opening game against Wear.
The Predators might not have got off to the best start, but they still have four games to play and are currently only behind the Vixons on goal difference, so a win on Tuesday would see them leapfrog their opposition and propel them up the league.
