Sunderland Under 23s entertain Tottenham Hotspur at Eppleton in Premier League 2 on Monday with both sides in very different form.

The Black Cats have tasted victory in four successive games, albeit they hadn’t won any of their previous six games prior to this impressive run.

Meanwhile, Spurs haven’t recorded three points since August and have lost four of their last five games.

Andy Welsh admits Tottenham have ‘technically gifted players’ and believes his Sunderland side will need to be on top form to get a positive result.

He told safc.com: “We’ve got a nice unbeaten run going of four games and we have now got to try and maintain that.

“Tottenham are a good side but they are looking forward to it and hopefully we can be at our best again.”

Welsh also discussed the Manchester United win and the quality of the teams within the division.

“It was a really welcome three points at Manchester United last week.

“The league this year is very tight and the quality of the teams have improved this year.

“It makes it a good league for development. It’s important to get the points and we will be looking to get some more on Monday.”

Sunderland sit in fifth place in Premier League 2 with counterparts Tottenham occupying the bottom spot.
