Seaham had chances but were always chasing the game.

Seaham have now lost five games in a row after a 3-0 defeat to Bishop Auckland at Heritage Park on Saturday.

Andrew Johnson opened the scoring in the 17th minute before hedoubled the lead 57 minutes in.

And James Fairley made it 3-0 to the hosts 10 minutes before full time.

This result means The Star are tenth in the Northern League table and Bishop are in sixth.

It was a quiet start for both sides with the hosts looking to attack the left side with full back Michael Hoganson and winger Fairley. Eventually these attacks turned into a goal 17 minutes in as Fairley picked out prolific goal scorer Johnson from the left wing with a low drilled cross which was finished with ease.

The goal gave Bishop Aukland more drive coming forward and they should have doubled their lead just two minutes after Johnson’s opener. Hoganson crossed to the back post where full back Sam Orritt slid his shot way over the bar from six yards out.

Keeper Thomas Dawson denied The Star a way back into the game after making two great saves, tipping David Palmer’s curling shot round the post then saving a header from the same player. They were Seaham’s best chances of scoring an equaliser in the first half.

The hosts dominated the second half and got their second goal just before the hour mark through Johnson again. The striker chopped the ball back onto his left foot to escape being tackled and clinically finished his chance into the top left corner just outside the Seaham box.

Red Star went searching for a way back into the game but to no avail, as the hosts defence held strong frustrating The Star’s forwards. Fairley killed the game off by getting a third for Bishop in the 78th minute with a great individual goal. The winger cut in from wide and curled his shot into the top left corner off the post.

Seaham’s next game is at home to Jarrow Roofing in the Northern League on 28 February.
