University rowing president Ryan Glymond praised the strength in depth of the Sunderland side following their Clash of the Minsters victory last week.
His side claimed the points over York St John on Wednesday after putting in a “brilliant” performance despite the University of Sunderland losing out overall.
Out of six races, the Wearsiders won an impressive five times.
“The team did brilliantly,” said Glymond. “We train every day to win races and on Wednesday all that training paid off.”
With each member of the squad being involved in at least one win, Glymond added: “This just proves the depth of talent that we have.”
Rachel Macmurtrie, rower for Sunderland, said: “We absolutely destroyed them in the singles, the women’s four and the men’s four.
“There wasn’t anyone who stood out, because everyone was on top form.”
With so many top quality performances, a highlight of the day would be tough to pick but Macmurtrie went with the mixed eight race.
“My favourite race was the mixed eight because it was close, but our higher rate gave us an advantage.”
