Ryhope CW have been drawn against Northern League Division Two side Billingham Town in the second round of the FA Vase.
The Wearsiders’ 3-1 victory over North West Counties League outfit Stockport Town at the weekend ensured that they would be in the hat for the next round.
Goals from Kyle Davis, Leon Ryan and Lee Chapman secured victory after they went a goal behind in the first-half.
Ryhope beat Billingham in the first round of the Durham Challenge Cup on Tuesday night, but Assistant Manager Stu Gooden doesn’t believe that will have much effect on the Vase tie.
Gooden said: “They’ve probably got people missing [last Tuesday], and we had people missing tonight. And it’s going to be a Saturday there, so there’ll be a decent crowd too.”
“It’s nice to get one up on them rather than losing. I’d prefer to go there on the back of a win than a defeat. But, I don’t think it’ll have much reflection on the Vase game.”
The tie will be played at Bedford Terrace on November 12, meaning that Ryhope’s league fixture with Seaham Red Star has been moved to November 8.
Meanwhile, Sunderland RCA will face EBAC Nothern League Division Two side Stockton Town as they kick off their FA Vase campaign, also on November 12.
