Two Sunderland sports teams clashed in a charity netball match last week as the University side beat their hockey counterparts 30-10.
In an event that was quickly planned and played the two societies, friends off the court became rivals all in the name is charity. The organisation both teams chose to raise money for was Sunderland Mind, which strives and continues to develop ways of working with people experiencing emotional or mental health problems in Sunderland.
The event was filled with enjoyment and merriment, and both societies raised over £100 for Sunderland Mind.
“I am proud of what we achieved in such a short time period,” said hockey president Huw Cameron. “I’d like to thank the netball society and the University for helping in the event.”
Although the netball society had the obvious advantage, the two societies are in talks to have a hockey match to raise more money for Sunderland Mind.
