Men’s futsal embark on their second tournament of the year.

Sunderland men’s futsal firsts and seconds travel to York St John this Sunday for another round robin tournament against rivals Durham thirds, York St John seconds and York seconds.

This is the third round robin tournament of the season for Sunderland, having previously hosted one in Sunderland and travelled down to the University of York.

The tournament is a good opportunity for both Sunderland sides to get more points on the board and improve their position in the league table.

Sunderland player Martin Kelly has said the main aim of the tournament is to “use the skills we have been developing on in training.”

Kelly insisted the tournament will also be useful for “developing the players for next season so the squad can improve as a whole.”

The fixtures provide a hopeful opportunity for Sunderland to get some wins to their name with Kelly adding: “Hopefully the squad can pick up few points on Sunday.”

The tournament takes place on Sunday February 18th at York St John University.
