University of Sunderland Men’s Tennis 1st’s will look to end 2017 strongly when they host Sheffield Hallam University 2nd’s today.

It is the final scheduled match of the year for both sides before a break until January 31.

Sunderland are looking for their first win of the season in a contest that will most likely be played outdoors, on the artificial grass courts of Silksworth Tennis Centre.

The reverse fixture in Sheffield on the opening week of the season saw Hallam run out comfortable 12-0 winners.

They did however lose their previous game by the same score-line to Durham last week, while Sunderland’s match against Teesside was postponed.

Sunderland lie fifth in the BUCS Northern 4B league, with Hallam in third behind high flying Durham and Leeds Beckett, who also meet on Wednesday.

Teesside prop up the table and will host fourth placed Hull in an important tie, with both sides still in search of their first victory of the 2017-18 campaign.
