Sunderland City Predators women’s volleyball team claimed another five-set victory this season, defeating Sheffield Volleyball Club 3-2.
The Predators, who also beat Newcastle Staffs in a final-set decider, now have four league wins in a row.
Despite playing away from home, Sunderland took a tight first set 25-22 despite a strong start by Sheffield.
It took 62 points before Sheffield claimed the second set, drawing level in the match, despite Sunderland having numerous set points to double their lead.
Sunderland took their opportunity in the third as they won another narrow set 25-23.
The fourth set was anything but close as Sheffield won 25-23 to draw level and force a final set.
However, it was Sunderland who managed to take the points as they won the fifth set 15-11.
The team’s great form looks to be keeping the club in Division 2 North next season, with a possible chance of making the play-offs should their winning run continue.
Sunderland will be looking for five league wins in a row when they face Leeds at Sunderland University on April 9 at 12.30pm.
