Sunderland Predators v Coventry & Warwick RigaSunderland City Predators women’s volleyball team claimed a vital win against Nottingham Rockets in four sets to close in on a play-off place.

Sunderland settled their nerves by taking the first set 25-16 to take the lead in the match.

The Wearside club managed to double their lead with a 25-15 second set win.

Nottingham refused to make it easy for Sunderland, winning the third set 25-22.

However, Sunderland managed to dig deep in the fourth and final set of the game, winning 25-21.

The win for the Predators leaves them two points behind second placed Manchester Marvels, who suffered a defeat to Sheffield Volleyball Club.

The final game of the season will be against Manchester Marvels, with a win the only priority for Sunderland.

Results could go against them on the final day but whatever happens it has been a fantastic season for Sunderland City Predators.
