The University of Sunderland Cheerleading squad brought home the silver after a successful UKCA Nationals tournament in Manchester at the weekend.

The squad enjoyed success across the board with a first place in Routine, runners-up at level 2, bronze and silver at level 3 and an impressive third and 4th place finish at level 4.

Club President Carly Newton was pleased with their achievements, as many of them took to the floor competitively for the first time.

She said: “Everyone was amazing and I’ve never been so proud of anyone as I am of my squad right now. I love every one of them and I’m so excited for future tournaments.”

This is the perfect morale boost for the Cheerleading squad and they will hope to build on their impressive performance in Tees Wear Varsity next week, as Sunderland play host to the regions top sports teams.
