The University of Sunderland men’s tennis 1sts will hope to build on last week’s cup victory when they host Durham men’s 5ths at Silksworth.

The Wearsiders are still searching for their first league win of the campaign, after a defeat and a draw against Hull 1sts and York 2nds respectively.

However, last week’s 4-2 triumph over Hull men’s 2nds in the Northern Conference Cup should give the side a much-needed boost ahead of the clash.

The hosts should have Konstantinos Axelos, Andrew Waddell, Paddy Horne and captain Phil Rudd available for the match against Durham, who sit second in division four.

Rudd missed last Wednesday’s cup victory with a wrist injury but should be ready to return after a week off.

Durham have won their only league match this season, cruising to a 5-1 victory over Hull men’s 1sts.

The match will be played at the Puma Tennis Centre and will get under way at 1:00pm.
