With a lot of new faces in this year’s men’s Volleyball team, results haven’t been as good as in previous seasons for the University of Sunderland team.
Many of the squad are still new to playing at a competitive level, and the standard of Volleyball is much higher than they are used to.
Captain Mark Whitelaw is planning for future success, encouraging the team at a time where results are disappointing.
“I think it’s just simply a matter of still building game experience for players who haven’t really played at this level before,” he said.
Taking the positives from all games and continued practice are key to finding success later in the campaign, believes the captain.
Whitelaw added: “We will get there and improve every game. By the end of the season we will be pushing for wins and hopefully by gaining experience throughout this season we will build a good foundation for next year’s team.”
Without a game this week the team has more time to prepare ahead of their fixture against Leeds Beckett University. Sitting only one place above Sunderland in the table this is a perfect opportunity for the Wearsiders to close the gap between 3rd and 4th.
