The University Of Sunderland’s Equestrian Club is playing their fixture almost a month early due to a venue booking error by Teesside.

Vice president Sarah Johnston hopes to continue the Equestrians winning streak over Teeside: “We hope to live up to the expectations of past team members as we have beaten Teeside for the past two years.”

Sunderland have managed to come third twice in their past two competitions and are hoping to get their first win of the year on Wednesday, both the A and B teams will be competing in the all day event.

The teams are very hopeful following last years victory over Teesside, with three new members now competing in the A team, who have been unfortunate not to be placing higher due to refereeing decisions in the away events.

The B team’s captain Rachel Reed is feeling very positive about the event: “We’re competing a month early, so we haven’t had as much time to prepare but I am confident the girls will smash it regardless, and even if we don’t at least we will have gained experience in competing.”

The club hopes to bring as much support as possible, and hopes students will be there on the day taking photos/videos sharing them on social media in hope of a potential recruitment drive for next year.
