New signings Lucy Staniforth and Kylla Sjoman hold up their new shirts with Sunderland Ladies head coach Carlton Fairweather.

Sunderland Ladies defender Kylla Sjoman says she is loving life on Wearside after joining the club over the winter.

The Canadian full-back, who has previously represented Celtic and Doncaster Belles among others, has enjoyed a fine start to her time in the North East putting in good performances in their opening three games.

Speaking to safc.com, Sjoman spoke of her happiness at her move to Sunderland.

“I’m excited to be here at Sunderland because I trained here last year,” she said.

“I was thinking about making the move but it would’ve been the third country I would’ve lived in, in three years.

“The professionalism at the club is amazing and it’s a big step up from where I have been coming from.

“Sunderland had a really successful season and their left back has just retired so it was a good time for me to come in and look to push on and enjoy my game.”

The defender also praised the impact of Sunderland Head Coach, Cartlton Fairweather.

She said: “Carlton’s presence with the team was great; he is a positive manager and really tries his best to bring out the best in the players so I thought it seemed like a really good place for me to come.”
