County Durham’s Darren Surtees will fight Luke Keleher for the British Challenge title at Rainton Meadows Arena on December 3rd.
At a press conference held at the venue itself, it was announced that the unbeaten Surtees (4-0-0, 2KO) will battle Yorkshireman Keleher (2-5-1, 1KO) on the stacked “Christmas Cracker” card, co-promoted by Fighting Chance Promotions and Phil Jeffries’ Pro Box North East.
Yet to be beaten in his four fight career, Surtees’ most recent success was a dominant points victory over the more experienced Marek Laskowski (7-7-1, 1KO) last month, and the Thornely native will be hoping to lift the first belt of his professional career in the clash against Keleher.
Also aiming for a domestic breakthrough, Luke ‘The Nuke’ Keleher is coming off a narrow loss to a notable opponent in Conor Benn and will look to get back to winning ways as he fights outside of his native Scotland for the fourth time in his career.
Both fighters are approaching very different crossroads within there respective careers and a title win for either man would no doubt elevate there stock in the super lightweight ranks.
The December card also features Forest Hall’s Lewis Ritson as he battles Jordan Ellison for the Northern Area Title, while Mark ‘Dynamite’ White challenges 2012 Olympian Abdon Cesar.
