Washington slumped to a 4-1 defeat at mid-table Consett in the Northern League First Division on Tuesday night.
The visitors weren’t able to replicate their heroics against a Consett side which they defeated 3-2 just over a fortnight ago.
A hat trick for Michael Sweet ensured it was a night to forget for The Pitmen, who slumped to their third defeat in a row.
Former Gateshead trainee Sweet gave the home side the lead 12 minutes in, slotting home from six yards out, after good work by Danny Craggs following a short corner.

Washington levelled after 25 minutes through their first shot of the game, as Matty Waters headed home a precise cross from the right hand side.
Sweet then grabbed his second of the evening latching on a spilled ball, after Dale Connor failed to deal with a Luke Sullivan drive 14 minutes later.
The striker then completed his hat trick pouncing on a loose ball in the box to take his tally of the season to 11.
The lively Sullivan added one for himself on 59 minutes, burying the ball into the roof of the net, after an impressive run from the impressive Jordan Nellis.
And it could have easily been five as Lewy Teasdale rose above the Washington back line to meet a perfect Jake Stafford cross, only to put his header inches wide of the post.
