Ben Morgan scored twice at Hillheads to give NIHL league leaders Sheffield Steeldogs a vital 4-2 win over Whitley Warriors to move them three points clear of the Hull Pirates.

Callum Watson opened the scoring for the Warriors with just 87 seconds played in the first period.

The Steeldogs however bounced back in the second period with a shorthanded goal scored by Andrew Hirst which was followed up by two goals from player/coach Morgan.

Ben Richards scored a wonderful goal early in the third period to give the Warriors a glimmer of hope, but Milan Kolena put the game out of site by scoring the visitors second shorthanded goal of the game.

The defeat for the Warriors means they have lost four of their last five league games and have fallen out of the playoff race.

Next weekend is a big one for the Warriors as they host local rivals Billingham Stars at Hillheads – face-off is at 5pm.
