Washington FC host Consett AFC, in the EBAC Northern League Division One, this weekend hoping to extend their run of two successive wins.

The Mechanics backed up a hard fought 2-1 win at Ryhope CW last week with a impressive 3-1 victory midweek against Team Northumbria.

Manager James Clark was more than happy with the performances given the clubs recent injury problems.

“It’s fantastic to win two in a row, the lads deserved it,” said Clark.

“We’ve struggled recently with injuries, but it’s showed the progression from Washington AFC to FC with three young lads in the side during the week.”

Visitors Consett currently sit fifth in the table and will be desperate for more points in a league where 4 points separate third from eighth.

The Steelmen have also won their last two after recovering from a 5-1 defeat at title challenging Marske United to beat both Penrith and Shildon 3-0.

Washington on the other hand sit second bottom of the league but Clark believes if they have a clean bill of health they have a chance.

“Hopefully we can get a few back from injury, kick on and build on the last two results.”

“It’s about making sure we are as strong as possible, as fit as possible and ready for the task on Saturday.”
