A North East Ice Hockey goaltender has returned after a year playing in a top league in Canada to represent Whitley Bay Warriors once again.

Mark Turnbull, 22, was recruited by Wiarton Rock following the 2015/16 season with Whitley Bay Warriors where he saved 90.41% of shots faced.

An additional stint at Toronto Attack means Turnbull returns to his hometown team with added experience.

Turnbull said: “Moving back to the Warriors was definitely the right decision for me.

“I have become a much more consistent goaltender over the year… being on the ice every day has really helped my confidence.”

You can see Turnbull and the Warriors every weekend at Hillheads.
