Sunderland U21s 5-2 Leeds United U21s: Harrison Jones returns as the Black Cats go unbeaten in 7
Sunderland won their seventh game in a row, as they beat Leeds 5-2 in the Premier League 2 on Monday.
A brace from Ahmed Abdullahi and goals from Harrison Jones, Jack Whittaker and Jake Waters was only matched by Alfie Creswell and Harvey Vincent to earn Sunderland a deserved three points at Eppleton CW.

The Black Cats gave starts to forgotten first team players, Abdoullah Ba and Milan Aleskić, while Harrison Jones returned to the squad following a period of absence following from the Dortmund game in early January.
And Sunderland took the lead with only three minutes on the clock. Ahmed Abdullahi found space in behind the Leeds United defence, and he took his shot early on his right foot and beat the keeper at his near post.
Leeds almost levelled when Harvey Vincent’s found Edward Ibrovic-Fletcher, but his header was straight at goalkeeper Joe Cowan.
Despite the home side’s early dominance, they almost gifted the visitors an equaliser, when Finlay Holcroft’s loose ball found Charles Crew on the flank, whose outside-the-foot curling ball played Ibrovic-Fletcher through on goal, but his strike was straight at the Cowan.
Sunderland almost doubled their lead when Jaydon Jones’ effort went narrowly wide, before Abdullahi’s powerful strike from inside the box was well saved by Rory Mahady.
Three minutes after half-time, Sunderland doubled their lead, as Jaydon Jones’ driven ball found the run of Archie Lightfoot, whose cut-back found H.Jones in space and he arrowed it into the top corner.
H.Jones almost doubled his tally moments later, when Aleksic’s skilful run found him in space to cross and it fell to H.Jones, but his strike was scrambled clear by Mahady.
Sunderland earned their third with an hour played, thanks to Abdullahi. He reacted first from a long strike that Mahady spilled to slide the ball into the net off the post.
Only a minute later, Leeds earned one back through Alfie Creswell, when his close-range diving header was smashed past Cowan.
Leeds earned another back with 20 minutes on the clock. A corner found Harvey Vincent free at the back post and his powerful header beat Cowan.
Despite Leeds’ pressure, Sunderland got their fourth, when Finn Geragusian played Jack Whittaker in on goal, and his shot rifled into the corner past Mahady.
In added time Sunderland got their fifth, as Jenson Jones’ darting run to the by-line allowed him to square the ball into the path of Waters, who passed it into the empty net.
Sunderland U21s next play Chelsea on March 14th.
