Andrew Fisher admits he is not ‘too bothered’ about a Akop Stepanyan rematch, hours after Stepanyan called out Fisher for his ACB ranking.

The two met back at ACB 74, with Fisher taking the win via 2nd round TKO. He took control of the fight early on, walking Stepanyan down and landing well throughout the 1st. It was much of the same in the 2nd, Fisher looking to for the finish with a guillotine attempt early on.

Less than a minute into the round, Fisher landed a right hand to the body which saw Stepanyan hit the mat. However, Stepanyan appeared injured, holding the top of his left leg and the contest was waved off.

Feeling the injury was to blame and keen to avenge the loss, the Russian released this statement on the official ACB Facebook page:

But Fisher, head coach at TFT, exclusively told SportsByte he isn’t too interested in the rematch: “Personally, I’d not be too bothered about the rematch and I’d prefer ACB didn’t offer me him because I would love one of the guys who are ranked above me.”

“I just want to keep working hard before I get too old and hopefully I’ll get a bit more luck!”

Currently ranked 6th, he has his sights sets on higher ranked opponents in an attempt to make it to the top of the Featherweight division. “I’m contracted to fight and I’ll fight who ever they tell me but I’d prefer Raisov or Peduson.”
