Sunderland’s Yann M’Vila (centre) celebrates their second goal of the game scored by team-mate Billy Jones (not in picture) during the Barclays Premier League match at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland.

The presents will soon be under the Christmas tree as we are just days away from the big day and today we look at a player who was an absolute gift in the middle of the park for the Black Cats and it’s the first loanee of the series. Full of firsts I am.

Yann M’Vila

Duration at SAFC: 2015-2016

Signed From: Rubin Kazan (loan)

Sold to: N/A

Appearances: 40

Goals: 1

Key Moment: With his only goal for the club M’Vila rocketed a free kick in at the Holte End of Villa Park in what resulted in a 2-2 draw but M’Vila also received man of the match in the massive 3-0 win over Newcastle in October 2015. The Frenchman described the noise that day as the best atmosphere he had played in.

Interesting Fact: It seemed that a permanent move was imminent but when the club decided not to sign one of their key players fro the previous campaign on a permanent basis by not answering his phone calls, M’Vila took to Instagram and vented his frustrations at the club as he was keen on the move.

Where is he now? The 28 year old is currently with first tier French side St. Ettiene competing for a Europa League or possibly Champions League place. So he’s not too bad all things considered.
