Chris Dobey will face Kim Huybrechts in his first round match of the final Players Championship event on Friday Afternoon.

The world number 38 goes into this event on the back of a good showing at the World Series finals earlier this month – and hopefully cement his place in the World Championships.

Now with the season drawing to a close, the Bedlington thrower will be hoping he can begin a strong finish to the year with victory over Huybrechts on Friday.

Dobey told SportsByte that he is “full of confidence” heading into Friday, but knows it will be a “test” for himself.

“It’s going to be a tough game for myself, but no game is ever easy against Kim,” Dobey said.

“He is a fantastic player and has been up on the big stage for a long time now.

“But I am going into Fridays game full of confidence, and very much ready for the test.”

The Players Championship finals is the penultimate tournament of the year, with things coming to a close at the World Championship – which begins on December 14th.

Dobey has all but secured qualification to the Worlds, as he currently sits in a spot through his present ranking – but the darts ace isn’t looking past this weekend in Minehead.

“Of course the World Championships is on my mind, but I have to try and forget about that until this competition is over.

“It’s great that I am currently in the World Championship as it stands, I just need to make sure i secure that this weekend.”
