Darts ace Chris Dobey booked his place in round two of the Players Championship Finals, as he defeated Kim Huybrechts 6-3.

Dobey started the game in fine form, and the Englishman broke Huybrechts throw to take a 3-2 lead into the interval.

After the break he continued to grind down the Belgian, breaking throw again and eventually coming out a 6-3 winner.

Huybrechts started the match with a solid hold of throw, powering in a 180 and 140 in the process.

Dobey followed with his own hold of throw in the second leg, and then in the third he broke his opponents throw with a 47 checkout.

After another hold of throw from the Bedlington man, Huybrechts checked out 110 before the interval to keep the deficit at one.

Dobey continued to pile the pressure on, checking out 72 to move two legs away from the second round.

The players then exchanged breaks of throw in the next two legs, which saw the match poised at 5-3 in Dobey’s favour.

Dobey then produced a clinical last leg of darts, which included a 140, to see off his opponent and secure a 6-3 victory.

Dobey will now play the Scotsman Robert Thornton on Saturday in the second round.
