The draw for the Preliminary Round of the Durham Challenge Cup has been made, featuring 11 Wearside League teams.

Northern League sides are also involved in the tournament for teams of the Durham county.

Last year’s competition was won by Northern League Division One side Shildon, who beat the league champions Spennymoor Town in the final.

The preliminary round of this year’s tournament sees Annfield Plain face Boldon at home, while Ashbrooke Belford House travel to Jarrow.

Silksworth Colliery Welfare travel to Peterlee side Horden, who were just three points behind Silksworth in last year’s Wearside League.

Last year’s bottom side, Gateshead Leam Rangers, host Sunderland West End.

Elsewhere, Willington FC will play Brandon United, Washington FC face Chester Le Street Town and Sunderland RCA host Birtley Town.

And Wolviston FC, who finished 14th in the Wearside League last season, host Northern League Division Two side Darlington Railway Athletic.

Matches will be played by Saturday 20th September.
