COTM football 4thsManager Martin Kelly insists the University of Sunderland Football 4ths will benefit from their four week break but is frustrated at the lack of fresh faces.

The team have only had four games since the start of the season back in October, including their Clash of the Minsters tie.

However, manager Kelly believes the break will improve them.

He said: “I think we will benefit from the break. The team has had more time to get use to each others playing style and also get to know each other as individuals.

“Training has been hard. A lot of fitness work has been done. We’ve also bonded as team a lot more in recent weeks. Getting the full team to training every week is never easy though” admitted Kelly.

In October, after the Clash of the Minsters defeat, Kelly outlined the fact he felt the 4ths needed to “draft in a few new players.”

The manager showed his frustration again at the recruitment situation saying: “No new players are coming to training. When they do we (the 4ths) get last choice as the other three teams get priority.

“It’s totally wrong I think. We should try to improve all four teams to an equal standard.”

The 4ths next game is away to York St John 5ths on Wednesday, December 11.
