Sunderland’s Women Hockey team close the year with a loss after an 8-0 thrashing to Bradford at home on December 6.

Sunderland, who went into the game as clear underdogs to top of the league Bradford, were defeated heavily at their home ground, the Raich Carter Centre.

The game was heavily dominated by a Bradford side who are currently unbeaten this season showed why with a classy performance at the Wearside team’s ground.

Sunderland came into this game with no win since November 15 and knowing the last time the teams locked horns Sunderland were defeated 7-1 away. Despite being  undefeated at home prior to the game the home side knew it was going to be a hard battle against the Yorkshire outfit.

Sunderland player Madeleine Foreman said: “The match was good, even though we lost we found both strengths and weaknesses in the team which will help us in future games.”

This shows that Sunderland are keen make things right after the crushing defeat. Sunderland currently sit 4th in their BUCS campaign and have won two games this season.

They will hope to find their form in their next game against Leeds Trinity who are currently 2nd in the BUCS table which is due to take place on February 7.
