Sunderland West End swept aside West Auckland Tunns in the Wearside League to increase their winning run to eight games.

Mark Catcheside gave West End the lead in the 15th minute before Barry Turton doubled their advantage six minutes later.

Dale Dunn pulled one back for the visitors before goals from James Cassidy, Brad Wilson and Turton’s second put the hosts in pole position.

A second half hat-trick from substitute Keiron Martin ensured West End all three points as they put on a dominant display against West Auckland.

Catcheside gave his side the lead when a free-kick wide on the left was carried in by the windy conditions leaving opposition keeper Nicholas Peterson helpless. Minutes later a good one-two with Lee Smith sent Turton through on goal where he smashed home Peterson.

The away side pounced on some poor defending from West End, leaving Dunn to place a sweetly struck half-volley into the bottom left corner.

West End regained their lead when Cassidy stole the ball on the edge of the box, before finishing at the near post beyond Peterson.

A fantastic 25-yard strike from Wilson left Peterson no chance before Turton got his second after a through ball from Mark Robinson meant West End went into the break with a comfortable lead.

Second half substitute Keiron Martin intercepted a poor backpass which he slotted past Peterson before he neatly finished Catcheside’s inch-perfect cross into the bottom corner.

Three minutes from the end Martin completed his hat-trick with a delightful chip of the far post that sealed the points in a game that was very one-sided.

The result sees West End stay in third while West Auckland Tunns remain in 11th.
