Sunderland narrowly lost 10-8 against Pumas Futsal Club who are set to play in the English National Futsal League next season.

The friendly started positively for Sunderland as they quickly gained a 2-0 lead as they proved to show how much they have improved over the last year as they faced tougher opposition.

However, Pumas looked deadly after conceding and managed to grab two goals in quick succession as Sunderland’s lead diminished in front of them.

It was not long until Sunderland snatched the lead once again as Dan Winterburn scored from an unlikely angle.

The game was close the whole way through as Sunderland aimed to grab the winner, however, it was the Pumas who had just enough to separate the two teams.

Sunderland player Nathan Jefferson commented: “To compete against these is a really good achievement for the lads and having quality opposition will only improve us further.”
