Seaham Red Star have added Dylan McGlade to their squad ahead of tomorrow’s game against Ashington.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has joined on a dual registration deal from Blyth Spartans and is set to make is debut in the Northern League clash.

McGlade is capped for the Republic of Ireland at under 17 level, and started out at Middlesbrough’s academy. After being released by the Championship side aged 18, he returned to his native country and played for Shelbourne, St Patrick’s Athletic and Longford Town before returning to the North East and joining Blyth Spartans in October.

Joint-manager Chris McCabe also added 17-year-olds Bailey Prudhoe and Harry Johnson ahead of Wednesday’s 4-0 victory at Darlington Railway Athletic, and they both featured in the game.

Striker Prudhoe joined the club on a dual registration deal from Spennymoor Town, and scored a neat back-heel on his debut for the Star just nine minutes into the game. The youngster is set to feature again tomorrow.

Speaking about Prudhoe, McCabe said: “I think he will be a real asset. He gives us a different dimension, he’s got pace, he’s direct and he’s technically very good so he’ll be a good player for us.”

Tomorrow’s opponents Ashington sit in 12th place and have one win from their last five games. Last time out, Dale Pearson scored the only goal for the side in a 1-1 draw away at Guisborough Town.

Seaham will almost certainly be without top scorer Liam McBryde, striker Ash Davis and winger Nicholas Kane tomorrow, but winger Lee Hetherington could return to the squad.

The game kicks off at 3pm at the Ferguson Motor Repairs Stadium, with admission being £6 for adults and £3 for concessions.
