John Higgins and Ronnie O’Sullivan were both knocked out of the Northern Irish Open by Tyneside’s Gary Wilson and Elliot Slessor.

Slessor beat O’Sullivan  4-1 to progress to the last eight, ending Ronnie’s chances of a £1 million bonus.

With an opening 62 to clinch the 1st frame Slessor controlled the match from then on.

He faces Li Yuan in the Quarter Finals.

Meanwhile a more experienced Gary Wilson took on John Higggins, who he beat 4-3.

Higgins dominted in the early stages of the game with three century breaks of 142, 120 and 135 to take a 3-1 lead.

Wilson won the next three frames however to clinch victory.
