Seaham Red Star were beaten 5-1 at home on Tuesday night, with Liam McBryde giving them an early lead before Gareth Bainbridge and Luke Carr scored two each and James Luccock adding a fifth to seal victory for North Shields.

McBryde gave The Star an early lead after fantastic build up play down the wing. Chapman and Bird combined well down the left before a great cross lead to McBryde tapping home for 1-0.

The visitors equalised straight away winning a corner from their first attack after conceding the opener. Harkess couldn’t deal with the whipped in corner and Carr had a tap in to bring the game to 1-1.

Shields scored the second goal just as impressively as McBryde’s opener. The away side passed the ball around with ease for maybe two minutes until a cross was whipped in which Bainbridge powerfully headed past Harkess making it 2-1. A team move of great quality.

The away side were in control for most of the second half and added a third through Bainbridge 64 minutes in. The striker pounced on a defensive mistake at the edge of the Seaham box and finished clinically past Harkess for 3-1 North Shields.

North Shields kept coming at Seaham and added a fourth goal with 74 minutes played. Carr grabbed a second with a powerful low drive about 20 yards out which nestled in the bottom right corner leaving Harkess stranded.

To add to the Seaham misery Shields substitute Luccock scored a fifth. Red Star keeper Harkess fumbled a tame shot over the line ending a bad day at the office for Seaham.
