Seaham Red Star take on 11th placed Birtley Town away from home this weekend, as they look to get back to winning ways after drawing their last two matches.

Birtley Town started the season well, going seven matches unbeaten, but recently have lost their last five matches – including a 9-0 thumping by relegation strugglers Brandon United.

On the other hand, Seaham are on an excellent run away from home having won their last seven matches on the road and take on a side that are currently struggling in the league both home and away having not won in their last ten matches.

The Star continued their recent good form with the draw at Whitehaven stretching their unbeaten run that goes back 13 matches and face a team that have lost their last five matches at home.

In the previous match between the two sides Seaham took all three points with Conor Winter scoring a brace in a 4-2 win at home.

In the Star’s last match the side only took a point after conceding in added time after Adam Johnston opened the scoring from the spot in a 1-1 draw against Whitehaven.

Johnston’s goal against Whitehaven was his 28th in 33 appearances for the Wearsiders, moving him up to 4th top goalscorer in the division.

The draw against Whitehaven meant that second placed West Allotment Celtic moved 6 points clear of Red Star in third after their 2-1 victory against Brandon United.

Jarrow Roofing have three games in hand over Seaham with just two points between the two sides

But with just three matches of the season left for The Star, Seaham will be hoping that they have a good run towards the end of the season to give them the best chance of promotion.

Kick off against Birtley Town is at 3pm on Saturday at Birtley.
