South Shields joint-manager Graham Fenton praised the wide variety of fans flocking to Mariners Park in the wake of his side’s third consecutive title win.

The Mariners were in party mode as they reached the 100-point mark, just two days after securing the Evo-Stik Division One North title, with a 5-0 win over Kendal Town in front of a 1,167 crowd.

Fans have arrived in their numbers at Mariners Park over the past three seasons and have put many clubs in higher leagues to shame with their attendances – something Fenton hopes will continue.

“I mean they’ve been brilliant,” he said.

“I just think they enjoy the atmosphere here, it’s a family-run club and there’s lots of different diversity of people, lots of young kids about and lots of old people supporting the club.”

Fenton’s men will compete in the Evo-Stik Premier Division next season as they look to make it four league titles in a row.
