Prospective new Sunderland owner Stewart Donald in the stands during the Sky Bet Championship match at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland.

With Eastleigh FC owner Stewart Donald set to conclude a takeover of Sunderland AFC in the near future SportsByte wanted to see how fans of his current club view him.

On The Spitfires fans forum many fans were saddened to hear about his upcoming departure and many had a great deal of thanks towards him.

“We should be very grateful for the time, money, effort and passion SD (Stewart Donald) has spent at the club” was the reaction of one fan.

“Owners will come and go, some like Stewart will leave a positive mark and a legacy behind, others can ruin a club, hopefully Stewart chooses well and the new owner acts in the best interests of the club and it’s faithful. ” said another.

‘I don’t think any of us doubt Stewart’s intentions, he has proved to be a good owner and honourable man in the last few years”.

“One though has to thank Stewart for his generosity, energy and enthusiasm without which we would not be playing National League football or appearing in the 3rd round of the F A Cup on two occasions.”

The Eastleigh fans seem very disappointed to see him leave which is unusually looking at it as  a fan of North East football with not to many popular owners around.

This can only be a good thing for Sunderland fans.
