A strong first quarter performance from Sheffield Hallam was enough to secure the win against Sunderland at City Space in the netball.

Sunderland went into the game looking for their first win of the season and to draw level on points with today’s opponents.

The game started off end to end with Sheffield being the more clinical of the two sides and defending well against the Sunderland attack.

Sunderland could find no answer for the Hallam attacking players however and found themselves 15-8 behind after one quarter.

The game continued back and forth into the second quarter where Hallam missed some key chances.

Sunderland were better in attack but Hallam managed to use their attacking advantage to lead 27-17 at half time.

In the third quarter, Sunderland were the better side, limiting Sheffield to just a few shooting chances whilst creating far more for themselves.

Some strong attacking play from the home side was enough to cut Hallams lead to eight with the score 34-26.

The quality of the Hallam attack showed in the fourth quarter as they were clinical in taking the majority of their shots.

Pulling their lead out to 12 points the game finished with a comfortable 46-34 win for the Yorkshire side.
